Now for something completely different! Our September outing will be a self-drive visit to the National Coal Mining Museum near Wakefield where the highlight will be a descent into a former coal mine, with guidance by experienced ex-miners. For those who would prefer not to go underground, there are a range of interesting exhibits at surface level, including an “immersive experience” of coal mining.
After lunch, at a location still to be decided, we will move on to the National Trust estate at Nostell (formerly Nostell Priory), where members will be able to explore the grounds and gardens, and visit the house. Please note that this second phase of the visit will involve an additional payment for any non-NT members.
Complete details and timings will be publicised nearer the time.
